FAQ

Is there a cancellation policy?

 

A full refund (minus associated fees) will be issued if a booking is cancelled prior to 3 days before departure.

A 50% refund (minus associated fees) will be issued if a booking is cancelled prior to 2 days before departure.

Nil refund for bookings cancelled within 2 days of departure.

Nil refund if a passenger is denied boarding due to passenger weights exceeding those provided on bookings, resulting in exceedance of an aircrafts maximum take-off weight.

The full booking amount will be charged for no shows.

In the event of passenger illness, with a medical certificate, FRH will reschedule the flight.

Cancellations must be made only via phone call to 0427 585 382 or in writing, emailed to bookings@finnissriverhelicopters.com. Please ensure you receive a cancellation confirmation, cancellations via text message will not be accepted.

 

Are there any weight restrictions?

 

The maximum single passenger weight is 136kg. Please see individual tours for maximum combined passenger weight limits.

 

Is there a minimum age limit?

 

The minimum age for flying with FRH is 3 years old and children must be accompanied by an adult. Children are legally required to occupy their own seat in the rear of the aircraft and therefore are required to pay the full ticket price. Capsule/child seats cannot be fitted in the helicopter.

 

Children must be 12 years or older to be seated in the front seat without a door on the aircraft.

 

How many people can fit in a helicopter?

 

We operate Robinson R44 aircraft which can seat 3 passengers, plus the pilot.

Do you provide transfers?

 

Finniss River Helicopters offers a shuttle service for passengers at an additional cost per person upon request. Please enquire for this service, by emailing bookings@finnissriverhelicopters.com 

 

Do you fly at night?

​

No, we do not fly at night time. 

 

What happens if the weather is bad or if it is raining on the day of our bookings?

 

We closely monitor weather conditions on a daily basis and our staff will endeavour to provide passengers with as much notice as possible and updates on current weather circumstances however, we cannot always guarantee we will be able to achieve this as weather conditions are often unpredictable. 

 

When are your tours available?

Our tours operate daily, 7 days a week and are subject to availability and weather conditions. 

 

Will I get motion sick?

​

Some people may feel motion sickness during flights due to factors like aircraft movement. If you're concerned about motion sickness, we recommend contacting a health professional prior to your tour's departure.

 

Our staff will do their best to ensure the flight is as smooth as possible, please inform pilots if motion sickness is a concern to you.

 

Can I bring personal items with me in the helicopter?

​

Yes, you are welcome to bring personal items in the helicopter. We request passengers minimise the personal items brought on board due to the limited space available.

 

Can I bring my own camera?

​

Yes, you are welcome to bring your own camera. We recommend using a handheld or body strap for your camera and to keep your camera inside the helicopter at all times.

Are the doors on or off the helicopter?

​

The back seat doors are always fitted. Typically the front seat doors are removed. Please advise your pilot prior to departure if you would feel more comfortable with the front doors fitted.

 

How far ahead do I need to book?

​

We recommend bookings as early as possible to secure your tour and avoid disappointment. Especially during the dry season or for popular tours, securing your spot well in advance ensures availability and may provide you with more options for tour times and any special requests you may have.

What should I wear on our flight?

​

It is important to consider comfort and safety, we recommend closed in shoes with comfortable and sun safe clothing. It is a good idea to avoid loose items, such as scarves and hats as they can be caught in the wind. 

We recommend a light jacket for children who may get cold in the breeze. 

 

Can we talk during the flight?

​

Yes, you will be fitted with headsets that enable passengers and the pilot to talk to each other during the flight. However, please be aware our pilots are constantly monitoring air traffic control and all other radio calls throughout the duration of the flight which may at times require passenger communications to be temporarily muted by the pilot.

 

Does the pilot provide commentary during the flight?

Yes, the pilot does provide commentary during the flight.

Do we get to keep the fish caught on the tour?

​

No, we do not take any fish home, we only catch and release.
